The River Danube ends its 2860km journey to the Black Sea through a wide floodplain leading into a delta of over 4000 sq km.

The Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve is, without doubt, the best area of Europe for bird watching and a paradise for angling.

It is also an ideal destination for those wanting to relax in an amazing and unusual landscape.

We have a house at the small fishing village of Somova. ‘Casa Veche’ (the Old House) is a traditional fishermans house in a spectacular setting, renovated to provide comfortable holiday accommodation.

Casa Veche is on a hill top with a path leading down to a lakeside area. Trips on the lake can be arranged through the reed beds by rowing boat for fishing, bird watching or just relaxation.

Somova can easily be reached by road and is an excellent base for exploring eastern Romania. Excursions into the heart of the Danube Delta can be arranged by boat from the nearby town of Tulcea.
